Rhodes Mezzanine 5th Anniversary

What promised to be a night of "Fabulous food" with the "best of British nibbles" truly did deliver just that. Entering into the glorious main dinning room of minimalistic white with an added twist of old world charm through plush couches and sparkling chandeliers we needed no introduction to what kind of night lay ahead. We were greeted by a pair of beauties offering signature red, white and sparkling wines as well as a selection of delightfully presented cocktail, my choice was the aperol spritz to start the night off. Due to the 'Grosvenor House Rule' of NO +1 the guest list was very exclusive. The small selection of approximately 80 guests was a bevy of local celebs, journalists, coveted photographers and a few VIPs. Not to forget Michelin Starred Celebrity Chef Gary Rhode OBE who greeted and welcomed us personally and even treated us to a few cooking tips of his own.

I know you are all thinking it, but what about the food!!  In 2 words, subtly divine.  We started off with Salmon toast which was full of flavour. The creamy centre filling gave way to a perfectly toasted buttery, crunchy outer layer. Next was the famed white tomato soup. Served in delicate white tea cups, those not familiar with the dish must have got a pleasant surprise, for us the soup lived up to every expectation we previously had and more. Our main was a dish of white fish and lobster in a light curry sauce but what I found particularly delightful was the potato salad serves shortly after with a tangy white sauce and green beans, the simplicity of the dish was delicately detailed by the complexities of the flavours found in the white sauce. To top it all off... Strawberry Crumpets, loving the commitment to British roots. We cant wait for the 6th anniversary so we can do it all over again!! Thanks to Gary Rhodes, Hill and Knowlton Middle East and Grosvenor House for a thoroughly delightful evening.

Tikki Lovers: Mahiki has opened its doors on Dubai shores

Mahiki – one of the world’s most famous nightspots and the ultimate venue for the cocktail lovers opened its doors for the first time in Dubai on Monday the 19th of December for a fun-filled tiki night to remember.
Attended by over 700 Honolulu honeys and Hawaiian-loving guys, the Polynesian-themed nightspot, famed for its relaxed and friendly atmosphere, treated guests to the famous Mahiki attention to detail and style.

Flamboyant flames rose from the mouth-watering cocktails, delicious delicacies sizzled from the tropical grill and all of us lucky invitees were delighted as we danced the night away to the live sounds of drum beats and fun-time music.

I managed to get my hands on one of the famous Mahiki drinks 'The Zombie' a potent mix of Mahiki rums and fruit juice which was delish if not slightly dizzying. The best bit of the Mahiki experience is the music they play. Full on old school party hits that you can sing your heart out to and boggy the night away mixed with the best of the latest top 40. The next time I head down to my Polynesian paradise I have promised myself that i will splash out on the Mahiki Treasure Chest which literally comes in a treasure chest full of liquid gold ;) what ever your excuse, make sure you get a chance to check Mahiki out, it is a sure crowd pleaser for all. Happy Hulla!!

Mahiki is now open to the public everyday from 6pm – 3am. The fully inclusive evening at AED1000 per person is available now for booking. Call Mahiki on +971 55 216 0181 or visit www.mahiki.ae to reserve your place.

Make the most of Mahiki’s reduced ‘Sunset’ cocktail menu every day from 6pm – 9pm. Much like in London, Mahiki Dubai’s signature night is ‘Mahiki Mondays’, which is full of theatre and special events. ‘Pin Up Tuesdays’ is a night specially designed for the tiki girls of Dubai, offering a number of exciting surprises for all you Honolulu Honeys!
