So of course we were lucky enough to be invited to the official media launch of Dubai Fashion Week. Ipad in hand I strutted down in my cutest Loubis to get the low down on what we can expect from this charming Simon Lock Character and his friendly counter parts. To my surprise the Empire's (@ The Monarch Hotel) glittering doorway and multifaceted dining room was packed full of anxious little fashionistas just like myself anticipating the announcements. The crowd was fab and most of the designers were in attendance which gave me the perfect opportunity to have a 1 on 1 with a few on how they felt about the fast approaching event as well as where their inspiration for each collection stems from. How selfish would I be not to share these little gems of info... Obv not gonna happen! read below for the inside info...
Amber Feroz:
When I was first introduced to Amber I could feel the enthusiasm surrounding him. We found a quiet corner where we could have a quick chat and quick he was, i struggled to keep my freshly manicured tips on the touch screen up to pace while catching all the important deets… yet here they are.
Amber came to Dubai 6 years ago after studying Fashion Design at Milan's Instituto di Moda Burgo where he also rocked a job as an Intern at Armani Prive. Now days he has his very own beautiful boutique on Al Wasl Rd. His designs also grace the racks of high end Dubai boutiques such as Sauce and our fave French chain, Gallaries Lafayette. He specialises in wedding dresses, Ready to Wear, Personalised tailoring and Abayas. When asked about his inspiration for what we are to see at this seasons Fashion Week he mentioned his encompassing of bats, flight and a feminine feel but he also said "My collection is called the Heights of Hope" this name came not only from his own hope to become a highly coveted designer but also the hope he has for the city we live in and the future of Dubai Fashion Week, "Get serious about Dubai Fashion Week and most importantly don’t loose hope". Inspiring words from a designer I truly look forward to seeing this season. Stay tuned for more designer one on ones as fashion week continues
